This body is centred around the Pit Track anti-poaching unit. The team of operators dedicate their lives to the protection of Flora and Fauna in South Africa, under the passionate leadership of Captain Carl Thornton. This site is the Mdluli Safari Lodge, on the South West boarder of Kruger National Park.
The operators are in the field from sunrise to sunset patrolling fence lines looking for entry and exit points, conducting snare removal and setting up camera traps, as well as monitoring wildlife, the movement of people and overall activity within the reserve. They are the frontline of conservation between an encroaching community of over fifty thousand people and the highly sensitive area of threatened habitat.
The images are educational in their ability to raise awareness about the organisations fighting violent organised crime, corruption, extortion and mafia that circualtes around the illegal trade of wildlife. We've become too content with the rate of degradation our planet faces everyday. This collection serves as the start of a life long project in exposing the evil of the wildlife trade, but also celebrating the conservation victories that come with combatting it.
"What we have to do is get into the heart. And how do you get into the heart? With stories".
